Safeguarding the Borderland Green Belt: PT Mayawana Persada's Ecological Footprint at the Entikong Border

ENTIKONG, WEST KALIMANTAN (October 30, 2025) — Planting trees at the nation's frontier represents far more than an ecological landscaping initiative. Along the international border, every sapling that takes root stands as a living symbol of environmental sovereignty and an enduring investment in shared ecological security.

Commemorating National Youth Pledge Day (Hari Sumpah Pemuda) through tangible climate action, PT Mayawana Persada supported a synchronized tree-planting drive titled "One Child, One Tree" (Satu Anak Satu Pohon) hosted within the Wisma Indonesia complex at the Entikong Integrated Border Post (PLBN), Sanggau Regency. As part of this green initiative, the company supplied 1,000 premium Eucalyptus seedlings propagated in its high-capacity nursery, complementing a total of 2,350 trees planted along the Indonesia–Malaysia frontier.

Building Cross-Border Alliances at the Nation’s Gateway

Spearheaded by the West Kalimantan Provincial Government alongside the Indonesian Nature Guardians Community (MPAI), the initiative created a cross-border, multi-generational platform for environmental action.

The event at PLBN Entikong convened provincial officials, Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) member Daud Yordan, Commander of the RI–Malaysia Border Security Task Force (Satgas Pamtas) Lt. Col. Arh Andy Qomarudin, the Head of PLBN Entikong, and a visiting diplomatic delegation from Tebedu, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Head of the West Kalimantan Provincial Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK), Adi Yani, commended the company's frontline contribution to cultivating early ecological consciousness:

"We extend our gratitude to PT Mayawana Persada for contributing 1,000 high-quality tree seedlings. This initiative is designed to foster a spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and instill a lifelong culture of planting among the students and youths participating today," Adi Yani stated.

PT Mayawana Persada Director Iwan Budiman participated directly in the ceremonial planting at the border cordon alongside regional administrative leaders (Forkopimda) and local figures.
